About Colby
Coaching is direct, individualized, and built around the communication situations you actually face. Sessions combine clear feedback, structured exercises, and repeated practice so you understand what to adjust and how to keep improving.
My Story
I did not begin as a naturally confident speaker. I built those skills through acting, speech, debate, performance, public speaking, and years of being placed in situations where I had to communicate clearly under pressure.
That experience taught me that strong communication is not one talent. It is a combination of learnable skills: how you organize an idea, use your voice, control your pace, read another person, respond under pressure, and make intentional choices.
I later earned a bachelor's degree in psychology, which informs how I think about behavior, attention, learning, development, and interpersonal communication.
My background also includes acting, interviewing, live hosting, advocacy, media work, public speaking, and individual coaching. Each of those experiences required a different kind of communication. Still, the same principle kept showing up: improvement comes from understanding the habit, practicing a clearer alternative, and applying it in a real situation.
My approach is practical: identify the habit, explain how it affects the message, and practice a clearer alternative.
My Approach
People are often told to be more confident, speak up, slow down, make better eye contact, or stop overthinking. Those instructions are not useful unless someone also explains how to make the change.
Communication coaching breaks broad goals into specific, observable skills. That may mean adjusting pace, strengthening word endings, organizing an answer before speaking, changing posture, practicing a difficult conversation, or learning how tone affects the meaning of a message.
The process is individualized because different clients need different kinds of practice. A student preparing to participate in class does not need the same approach as an adult preparing for an interview or a professional developing a major presentation.
The goal is not to create a different personality. The goal is to help each client communicate more clearly, intentionally, and confidently as themselves.
