LD Debate Handbook

Lincoln-Douglas debate looks like two students arguing philosophy. That's the surface. Underneath, it's the most efficient structure I've found for teaching organization, sound reasoning, how to spot a bad argument, and how to disagree with someone without it turning personal. This handbook lays out the format — case structure, frameworks, cross-examination, flowing, refutation — but the format is the vehicle. The skills are the point. Free to download.

Character Development

Character Development Through Storytelling

Using The Frog Prince Continued as a starting point, this lesson teaches students to build a character from the inside out. Instead of simply giving each character a "funny voice," we look at who they are, what they want, what they're hiding, how they feel about the other characters, and what just happened before they speak. From there, students make intentional choices about pitch, pace, tone, volume, pauses, and articulation to bring that character to life.

IPA Pronunciation Class

See it. Feel it. Say it.

Instead of asking students to simply copy a sound, I show them exactly how the mouth creates it—then we compare, practice, and adjust until the difference becomes something they can both hear and physically reproduce.

IPA chart showing mouth position diagrams and phonetic instructions for the /θ/ sound
IPA Chart — mouth position, voicing, and airflow for each sound
Side-by-side mouth position comparison for /ɪ/ vs /iː/ sounds showing tongue and lip differences
Compare Sounds — two sounds side by side so you can see exactly what changes
